Indian Jewelry - Fake and Cheap

Indian Jewelry is a group from Houston, Texas, and has performed under a variety of names since 2002. These days, I believe they are sticking solely with the name Indian Jewelry, with a core group of three or four members, and many part-time members and guests.
Though Fake and Cheap may not be the band's best work, I listen to it a lot, and it's surely one of their more accessible releases. While most of the songs are pretty heavily distorted and somewhat abrasive, they still retain pop sensibilities, and grooves that you can actually do a little dancing to if you want to. As far as lyrical content, it's nothing too deep for the most part, but Brandon Davis does most of the lyrics on this record, and his voice blends well into the overall sound. I guess what I'm trying to say is that his vocals are most definitely more of an instrument than a conveyor of new and interesting ideas. Anyway, Fake and Cheap is an all around solid album, and good for cruising around town as well as an evening at home.
