Uzeda - Stella

Uzeda is a Sicilian, noisy, mathy rock band that formed in 1987. Line up changes have occured over the years, but in my opinion it didn't effect the overall musical stylings all that much. Some might disagree with me on that (dug do all animals?), but that's ok. Lots of energy on this album, always makes me want to get up and jump around. Sometimes I do.
The songs are mostly bass-driven, leaving the lead guitar to scratch, screetch, and noodle about the fretboard. Thick, chunky riffs with lots of cymbal to be sure. really brings out Giovanna Cacciola's voice. I totally would have banged her back in the day. Hell, I probably still would if she's shreik a little. Anyways, to get a better idea of the sound, dig out your Shellac* records and give them a spin. It only makes sense, Steve Albini recorded at least 3 of their albums. Great album to drive to as well, always nice to pop it in and crank it up while sitting next to a sorority chick at a red light.
I should say that Uzeda (or at least some members) now also record under the name Bellini.
*If you have Shellac records lying around you probably have some Uzeda tunes in your collection already.
